Old Fashioned Cocktail

A Bourbon Old Fashioned is a classic cocktail made with bourbon, sugar, bitters, and a twist of citrus. It is typically served on the rocks and garnished with a cherry and orange peel. The sugar and bitters are muddled together to create a sweet and bitter base, which is then combined with bourbon and ice. It's a timeless cocktail perfect for sipping on a cozy evening with friends and family.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Start by placing a sugar cube in an Old Fashioned glass. If you prefer, you can use simple syrup as a sweetener instead of a sugar cube.
  2. Add 2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters directly onto the sugar cube. If you're using simple syrup, you can add the bitters directly to the syrup.
  3. Muddle the sugar cube with the bitters using a muddler. If you're using simple syrup, you can skip this step.
  4. Pour 2 oz (60 ml) of your preferred bourbon whiskey into the glass.
  5. Stir the mixture well to ensure the sugar is dissolved and the flavors are combined. Use a bar spoon for this.
  6. Add a few large ice cubes to the glass. The large ice cubes will help to chill the drink without diluting it too quickly.
  7. Hold a piece of orange peel over the glass and express the oils by twisting it. You can either drop the peel into the drink or use it as a garnish on the rim of the glass.
  8. If desired, you can garnish the cocktail with a cherry. A traditional Maraschino cherry works well.

Notes

Your Bourbon Old Fashioned is now ready to be enjoyed! Sip and savor the rich flavors of bourbon with a hint of sweetness and a touch of citrus. Remember, the Old Fashioned is a versatile cocktail, and you can adjust the sweetness and bitters to suit your taste preferences. Enjoy responsibly!
