Whiskey Sour Cocktail
Whiskey Sour Cocktail
The Whiskey Sour is a classic bourbon cocktail that has been around since the late 1800s. It consists of bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup and sometimes an egg white for a frothy texture, shaken with ice and strained into a glass. The drink is often garnished with a cherry and an orange slice. It has a perfect balance of sweet and sour flavors and is a popular choice for whiskey lovers who want a refreshing and easy-to-drink cocktail.
Ingredients
Instructions
- Start by chilling a rocks glass by placing it in the freezer or filling it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail.
- In a cocktail shaker, add bourbon, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and, if desired, the egg white. Fill the shaker with ice.
- Shake the ingredients well for about 10-15 seconds. This not only chills the ingredients but also creates a nice froth if you're using egg white.
- Remove the ice from your rocks glass. Strain the mixture from the shaker into the glass.
- Optionally, garnish with a lemon slice or a cherry.
Notes
If you're concerned about using raw egg white, you can omit it, and the drink will still be delicious. Some people prefer to dry shake (shake without ice first) when using egg white to create a more stable foam, but it's not strictly necessary. Feel free to adjust the proportions of bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup to suit your taste preferences. Cheers!
